Parrita & Palo Seco · Costa Rica
The town stop and the beach detour
Parrita and Palo Seco solve different parts of a travel day. Use the town as a place to organize the practical side of an outing, then treat the beach as a separate destination. That small distinction avoids arriving at the coast without the supplies or route information you meant to collect first.
Find your bearings
Parrita lies along the coastal corridor between the Esterillos–Bejuco area and Quepos. Palo Seco is a beach reached by a separate coastal approach, not the town center.
Know which destination you have saved
A map pin for Parrita will not necessarily bring you to a beach entrance. Confirm the exact Palo Seco destination with your host or operator, especially if you have arranged an activity. Save instructions offline and ask about current road conditions before committing to the final approach.
The estuary is part of the landscape
Palo Seco sits between the ocean and an estuary system. That geography is a reason to plan access carefully, not an invitation to cross channels or explore riverbanks without guidance. If you arrange a water outing, confirm its launch point, tide requirements and return arrangements directly with the operator.
Make a self-contained beach plan
Pack water, sun protection and a way to contact your group. Decide on a turnaround time before starting a long walk. Surfers should treat the regional report as offshore context and assess the actual beach with current local advice; a remote-looking peak is not automatically a better choice.
