Jacó · Costa Rica

The town day your beach stay needs

Jacó is where a beach holiday can make room for practical things. Put your errands together, choose somewhere to eat, and leave an unhurried window for the shore. For a group with different priorities, a town outing can be easier to coordinate than another full-day excursion.

Find your bearings

Jacó is north of Playa Hermosa and south of Herradura, on Costa Rica’s Central Pacific coast. The town and its beach are a different destination from the exposed Hermosa coastline.

A lesson starts with a conversation

If you want to learn to surf, tell the instructor about your swimming ability and experience before choosing a time. Ask where the lesson will take place, how conditions affect it and what happens if the session is cancelled. Being in a busy beach town does not remove currents or changing surf.

Give the group a useful meeting point

Pick a named business or beach entrance and share its map pin. Someone doing errands, someone taking a lesson and someone finding lunch may finish at different times. Keep valuables with you and plan where wet boards and clothing will go before getting back in the car.

Do not confuse the beach with the reef

Roca Loca is a specialist reef surf location in the Jacó–Hermosa area, not an extension of a beginner lesson on Jacó beach. Its dedicated report belongs in an experienced surfer’s planning, with local guidance. A favorable regional swell number is not a reason to seek an unfamiliar entry.
